About this property

Welcome to Historic Glen Cove Inn 11,450 ft

Perched at an impressive 11,450 feet along the Pikes Peak Toll Road in Woodland Park, Colorado, the Historic Glen Cove Inn stands as more than just a rest stop—it is a vital sanctuary for travelers navigating the challenging mountain route. With a solid rating of 4.7, this iconic inn is valued for both its location and practical offerings that blend history, safety, and comfort.

The inn’s strategic position makes it an essential pause for drivers. As noted by visitors, brake management is crucial on this mountainous terrain. Authorities frequently monitor brake temperatures, requiring drivers exceeding 300 degrees to stop and cool their brakes. This safety measure underscores the mountain’s difficulty and the inn’s key role in ensuring safe passage.

Beyond its safety function, the Historic Glen Cove Inn offers amenities that cater to diverse traveler needs. The small café provides a cozy spot to refresh, while the souvenir shop presents carefully curated mementos reflecting the rich legacy of Pikes Peak. Visitors can also explore informative outdoor panels that detail the history of the famed hill climb race and the mountain itself, making the stop both educational and visually stunning.

While the bathrooms have been highlighted as needing modernization and improved accessibility, the overall atmosphere remains welcoming. The ample parking accommodates busy days when many pause to take in the crisp mountain air and expansive views. The visitor center and outdoor exhibits enrich the experience, combining safety, history, and natural beauty.

For anyone journeying through the scenic yet demanding route of Pikes Peak, the Historic Glen Cove Inn is much more than a waypoint—it is a crucial, historic landmark that connects travelers to the enduring spirit of Colorado’s mountains while providing essential services and a moment of respite amidst the breathtaking alpine environment.

Had to stop here to let my brakes cool. Ample parking. Bathrooms, souvenir shop, and small cafe. Beware of old people driving in front of you, you’ll be frequently braking which will cause your brakes to heat up faster.

They will check the temperature of your brakes on the way down here. If they are over 300 degrees, you will have to pull off into a parking spot and open your hood for a while until your brakes cool off. As for the visitor's center, it has neat, informative panels outside telling about the history of the race and the mountain. The views are picturesque outside of the visitor's center. You can get food inside the visitor's center. The bathrooms are ok, but nothing to write home about.

Bathrooms need to be updated and made handicap accessible. The gift shop itself was very nice. Did not eat in the Cafe so have no comment on it.
